Menlo Security’s Cloud-based Isolation Platform Eliminates Malware from Reaching End Users

Malware plays a significant role in many of today’s high-profile cyber attacks and data breaches. Hundreds of millions of malware variants exist, and number is growing consistently year-over-year. Web and email remain the two leading vectors for malware, and the threat is now so prevalent that IT organizations and individuals fear clicking on any link.

The cloud-based Menlo Security Isolation Platform (MSIP) eliminates the possibility of malware reaching user devices via compromised or malicious web sites, e-mail, or documents. This is not detection or classification, rather the user’s web session, and all active content (e.g. Flash), whether good or bad, is fully executed and contained in the Menlo Security Isolation Platform. Only safe, malware-free rendering information is delivered to the user’s endpoint with a completely native user experience. All active content—including any potential malware—is contained with the cloud-based platform.

How it Works

The Menlo Security Isolation Platform (MSIP) uses patented cloud-based isolation and Adaptive Clientless Rendering™ (ACR) technology that obviates the need for endpoint software or plug-ins while delivering a transparent user experience to the user’s native browser.

The MSIP is deployed between a user’s device (e.g. desktop, laptop, tablet or smartphone) and the Internet. User Web requests are proxied via the MSIP, which accesses the Web on the user’s behalf and executes the user’s session completely. Only safe, malware-free rendering information is sent to the user’s endpoint, eliminating the possibility of malware reaching the user’s device. The Platform, which provides isolation for both clear-text (HTTP) and SSL-encrypted (HTTPS) Web content, is available as a public cloud service and can also be delivered as a virtual appliance for deployment in an organization’s data center.

Cool Vendors in Security for Midsize Enterprises, 2017

The five vendors profiled in this report offer a disruptive combination of innovation and midsize enterprise suitability. IT leaders in MSEs responsible for security and risk management should familiarize themselves with these impactful approaches to improving security posture with finite resources.

  • Emerging vendors are disrupting security markets and successfully competing with established mainstream vendors that have not been able to engage directly with midsize enterprises (MSEs) or provide affordable products that can scale to their needs.
  • IT leaders in MSEs find that products from these smaller vendors align with their agile, versatilist nature and complement their digital business priorities.
  • Lack of dedicated security resources elevates affordability and manageability as critical points of consideration in the evaluation of a vendor’s product.
